Social Change and Youth Leadership Conference (SCYLC) 

SCYLC is a two-day conference for high school students in the GTA, focusing on awareness of global development and critical engineering thinking skills.

What is SCYLC?

The Social Change and Youth Leadership Conference (SCYLC) is a two-day conference for high school students in the GTA, focusing on awareness of global development and critical engineering thinking skills. Students will participate in expert lectures, workshops, and interactive activities. Their skills will be put to the test in a final case competition where they will work in teams to develop and present an innovative solution to a panel of judges. Students have the option to participate as an overnight attendee and stay at one of UofT St. George’s residences, or attend as a day attendee. 

Theme

Each year the conference is based on one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. This year, the theme is Goal 15: Life on Land. Learn more about Life on Land here!

Logistics

  • Date: Saturday, May 24th - Sunday, May 25th, 2025

  • Time: TBD

  • Location: UofT St. George Campus, Specific location TBD

  • Food: Lunch and snacks will be provided both days for all attendees. For overnight attendees, dinner for Day 1 and breakfast for Day 2 will be provided in addition.​

Registration Details

  • Eligibility: The conference is open to high school students from Grade 9 to Grade 12!

  • Cost: The cost of overnight attendance is $100.00 CAD, while participating as a day attendee is $75.00 CAD. Payment must be done online, through the registration platform.
